FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The YSJ MEDIALibrary is a space for creating and sharing video content between students and staff at YSJ. It allows academics and students to upload audio and video files and easily interact, engage and communicate with streaming content that works within Moodle, or portfolio pages in Mahara.

You can access the MEDIALibrary via Moodle from the services tab on the top menu bar, or go to https://hml.yorksj.ac.uk/ and sign in with your York St John username and password.

Please see our How to Upload Videos to MEDIALibrary . You can also record content directly in MEDIALibrary and save it to the category of your choice. For more information on recording content in MEDIALibrary, please see our guide here.

You choose which category to store videos in. Every user has a personal category which is private. You can also choose to store videos in your School category but this is available to all students and the public. You may also request for a specific category to be set up for a limited group of students or staff. Please contact the TEL team if you would be interested in this.

MEDIALibrary

The YSJ MEDIALibrary allows academics and students to upload audio and video files and easily interact, engage and communicate with streaming content that works within Moodle, or portfolio pages in Mahara.

Our MEDIALibrary now has an exciting new feature called MEDIALecture that gives you the ability to record your screen, audio and webcam and instantly upload your recordings directly to the MEDIALibrary. Once your media content is uploaded, it can be easily embedded into other systems, for example in module pages in Moodle, or portfolio pages in Mahara.

You can install MEDIALecture onto your desktop computer and other teaching spaces.
