How to use Shortcodes
Why use Shortcodes?
Shortcodes enable you to add bright visual elements to your module easily. These can be useful if you want to draw students’ attention to particular information and break up text in the module area. You might want to select one colour to use for one type of information or have a tip displayed for each week in an accordion.
Open the text editor by adding a label or other resource with text editor
Select the Shortcodes button.
Choose which kind of element you want to add.
You can refer to the Shortcodes guide Moodle area where you will find examples of each of the Shortcode elements with descriptions.
Select the preferred settings.
These vary depending on the type of element you want to add.
Colours are coded:
Primary/Inverse = black
Danger = red
Info = blue
Success = green
Warning = orange
Gray = grey
You can refer to the Shortcodes guide Moodle area where you can find descriptions to help you decide which settings to choose.
Select Generate Shortcode and then Insert Shortcode and you can view the newly created element in your course.
